Decision to launch mobile app for Overseas Pakistanis

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistan has decided to launch a mobile app and implement an Immigrant Management Framework to monitor, make transparent and digitize the immigration process of overseas workers, which is in the final stages.

This decision has been taken in light of the recommendations of the inquiry committee set up by the prime minister after an overseas employment promoter sent 92 nurses to Saudi Arabia by uploading fake documents and deported them.

In the recommendations of the committee, it has been said that 'action should be taken by registering criminal cases against overseas employment promoters Ghulam Farid and Mian Zulfiqar who uploaded fake documents on the portal for nurses.'

The inquiry committee has also recommended that 'separate action be taken against these promoters for violating the rules of the Bureau of Immigration.'

The committee has also recommended setting up a data flow regime between the Bureau of Immigration and licensed promoters to track the documents uploaded on the overseas workers' portal.

"An affidavit should be submitted to the Bureau of Immigration on behalf of the overseas employment promoter or the worker wishing to go abroad that all the documents uploaded are genuine."

The report of the inquiry committee has also recommended that 'Community Welfare Attaché should be continuously involved in the process of recruitment of workers'.

The committee also recommended departmental action on the matter of negligence on the part of Bureau of Immigration officials and recruitment of sub-agents by overseas promoters.

In this regard, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has written a letter through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take formal action and investigate against the officials of the Overseas Employment Promoters and the Bureau of Immigration.
